GIMP is not PhotoShop
The GIMP is not PhotoShop.
PhotoShop is not the GIMP.
...Nor is the GIMP PaintShop Pro....
These three packages do similar things differently.
I haven't used Paintshop Pro for years and I rarely use PhotoShop.
I find it easier to be accurate in the GIMP.
When I lay out a web design I work in pixels. I use grids, guides and snap to's as well as layers.
All these things are available in PhotoShop too but the GIMP is free and I have come to rely on it as my default graphics package. So I am familiar with it.
The GIMP provides jpg, png, ico and gif support as well as coping with tiff, raw and psd files. With the GIMP I can read or write these file formats just by choosing the right file extension.
